其實這首歌曲原來不是英文歌曲，而是法文歌，是 Jacques Brel 因得知患了癌症後所寫下的曲子，原曲名是 Le moribond，後來才被發掘而翻譯成英文，由 Terry Jacks 所唱紅，這也是我們最熟悉的版本，Westlife（西域男孩）也曾翻唱過，也因此這首歌可說是老中青都聽過。
